The OFCP Annual Awards Program celebrates excellence, advocacy, and dedication by individuals, families, professionals, and community members who have positively impacted the lives of people with cerebral palsy in Ontario.


Nominations close September 20, 2024.


  • Mona Winberg Achievement Award

    This Award is made to a person with cerebral palsy in recognition of his/her personal achievement of such caliber as to be a significant role model to all.


    This award is in memory of Mona Winberg, who is remembered by many for her dedication to the work of the Federation. In her welcome to the 1969 OFCP Conference in Toronto, Third Vice-President Mona Winberg pointed out that in essence, everyone had an impossible dream, and to achieve this dream we all need support, encouragement and independence. She quoted the late Robert Kennedy:  “I dream of things that never were and ask, ‘Why not?’ This award is a recognition plaque.


    Nomination:  Nominations for this Award are open to all persons with cerebral palsy who reside in the province of Ontario. Nominations must be accompanied by a letter of support.


    Nomination Process: The award recipient is a member. Anyone can nominate. Nominations close September 20, 2024.

  • Eric Waldron Scholarship Award

    This scholarship is provided to a student with a disability who is enrolled in an Ontario College or University and who has completed his or her first year of instruction at University or College. Enrolment in programs that will lead to working with individuals with disabilities will be an asset.  


    The Eric Waldron Scholarship, in the amount of $500.00. The first installment is awarded at the beginning of the fall term of the second year program. The second installment is given at the beginning of the spring term of the second year program.


    Nomination: Open to student's who can demonstrate volunteer and employment endeavors and/or family involvement with an individual(s) with a disability. Personality, attitude and leadership attributes of the applicant will also be considered through personal/professional letters of reference. Academic and community references are acceptable.  Please note that course transcripts including marks are required. 


    Nomination Process: The award recipient is a member. Anyone can Nominate.  Nominations close September 20, 2024.

  • John Stone Sports Achievement Award

    Each year the Federation would like to recognize an individual with cerebral palsy for his/her outstanding sports achievement in the province of Ontario. 


    The OFCP John Stone Sports Achievement Award is in the amount of $500.00 and is presented to a person with cerebral palsy who is a current Lifetime Member of OFCP.


    Nomination: It is in recognition of his/her personal sports achievement of such caliber as to be a significant role model to all – sportsmanship, fairness, team spirit, inclusivity of team members. Nominations must be accompanied by a letter of support.


    Nomination Process: The award recipient is a member. Anyone can nominate. Nominations close September 20, 2024.

  • Jean Blancher Distinction Award

    Each year the Federation would like to recognize a personal support worker for his/her outstanding dedication to persons with cerebral palsy in the province of Ontario.


    Nomination:  The OFCP Jean Blancher Personal Support Worker of Distinction Award, in the amount of $500.00, is presented to an individual that has demonstrated significant support and dedication towards striving to address the needs of people with cerebral palsy in the province of Ontario. Nominations must be accompanied by a letter of support.


    Nomination Process: The award recipient is not a member. It is awarded to a PSW who supports a member. A member must nominate. Nominations close September 20, 2024.

  • Professional Recognition Award

    The OFCP wishes to recognize the contribution of a professional who is providing exemplary  service to persons with cerebral palsy.  Individuals and families of persons with cerebral palsy are invited to nominate a professional in Ontario whom they believe should be honoured. The selected professional applicant will receive a plaque honouring his or her service.


    Nomination:  Nominations must be accompanied by a letter of support.


    Nomination Process: The award recipient is not a member. This award can be given to any profession working to help and support the fostering of independence for people with cerebral palsy. The member or family of a member can nominate. Nominations close September 20, 2024.

  • Nicholas Milojevic Scholarship Award

    This scholarship is provided to a student with cerebral palsy who is enrolled in an Ontario College or University and has successfully completed their first year and is entering into their second year of studies. 


    This Award will be presented to a student with cerebral palsy who has persevered in their studies and has successfully embraced all aspects of the post secondary school education experience.  The Nicholas Milojevic Scholarship Award is in the amount of $500.00 paid in one installment.


    Nomination: The applicant must be a current Member of the OFCP.  This recipient, in keeping with Nicholas’s character, would be an individual who brings joy to others and has a happy and positive disposition.  The successful applicant will reflect all of the positive attributes reflected in Nicholas’s character which include perseverance, positivity and strength.


    Nomination Process: The award recipient is a member. Anyone can nominate. Nominations close September 20, 2024.

  • Therapy Scholarship Award

    The Therapy Scholarship is provided to a student who has completed his or her first year of instruction at an approved institution of higher learning offering either of the following courses: 


    • Speech and Language

    • Physiotherapy Therapy

    • Occupational Therapy


    The Therapy Scholarship is for student's who can demonstrate volunteer/employment endeavors and/or family involvement with person(s) having physical disabilities.  


    The award amount of $500.00.   The first payment is given at the beginning of the fall term of the second year program.  


    Nomination:  Eligibility criteria for this award is a successful completion of first year of study and enrolment in the second year of the program. Personality, attitude and leadership attributes of the applicant will also be considered through personal/professional letters of reference.  Academic and community references are acceptable.  Please note that transcripts are required.


    Nomination Process: The award recipient is not a member. This award can be given to any profession working to help and support the fostering of independence for people with cerebral palsy. The member or family of a member can nominate. Nominations close September 20, 2024.

  • Who is Eligible for Funding?

    Individual members of OFCP who have cerebral palsy, and reside in Ontario.


  • What Funding Programs are Available?

    Assistive Devices Funding (ADFP) and Life Enriching Activity Fund (LEAF. Also for Member Groups: Member Group LEAF

  • Can I Be Eligible For Multiple Funding Programs?

    Yes. 

    The OFCP offers funding assistance grants to Individual Members of the OFCP who have cerebral palsy. Funds can be accessed through our funding assistance program. Please review the guidelines and application forms carefully before applying.

  • Do you help with third party or government program funding applications?

    Yes, our System Navigation Service program can assist you in finding initial funding, and the OFCP may be able to cover additional funding afterward. We have extensive knowledge and experience with current government and NGO funding, and we are here to support you in your application process.
